Surgical management of low flow vascular malformations

Background: Percutaneous treatment has been widely used in low flow vascular malformations. However, surgery still an important role the management of these patients.Objective: The aim this study is to assess indications for malformations, as well safety, efficacy, and recurrence rate.Patients Methods: A total 33 patients with malformations were enrolled study. Duplex ultrasonography magnetic resonant angiography was performed all cases. Selection criteria included significant soft tissue component, localized accessible lesions, suspicion malignancy, persistent embryonic veins, residual lesions after sclerotherapy, failure or development complications sclerotherapy.Results: All selected underwent complete surgical excision. Histopathological examination confirmed preoperative diagnosis excluded malignancy patients. One patient developed postoperative bleeding that managed by external compression another necrosis edges skin flaps dressing. No detected.Conclusion: Surgical excision a valid option
